For the love of the game...
Hey Magic heads. It looks like this community was started over a year ago but only has a few members. Well now it has one more. I was drawn to this community because it had "Player" in its name. Some of the other communities I've checked out seem to mostly oriented around tournament play and leave out a great deal of what Magic the Gathering can be. People so focused on tournament play tend to heap attention on the top five percent (or less) most efficient cards available and largely ignore deck theme and the spirit of the cards. In decklists I see that same cardnames over and over (can you say Jitte and Tribe Elder? if I had a dime...) and it sounds like most games last not much beyond five turns. I can make a deck that'll throw down for twenty in short order but it would lack thematic synergy and suck the fun right off of the table.

To me magic is so much more than that. I have a comprehensive collection going all the way back. I started playing when Revised was in stores and Legends was just about to be released. There's so much out there. I think we might be approaching the printing of the ten-thousandth spell sometime soon! I am what is referred to as a casual player, and I don't even play much anymore. I love the game from the mere act of collecting these mesmerizing legions of prismatic cardboard.

So here's some questions for the small horde of youse.

What "shitty" card have you ever built a reasonably successful deck around?

What are your favorite cards for no good reason?
(The one's that just have some weird special appeal to you)

Do any of you happen to live in south Orange County, California?

Lucky Me
I feel all fancy to post in a brand new community :D
My names Elaine and I live in a little rainy corner of hell that I fondly refer to as home. Everyone else is set on calling it Vancouver, Washington tho.
I'm a Dungeons & Dragons girl origionly. I started playing in about 6th grade with 2nd edition. Since then I've played Heroe's Unlimited, Dragon Riders of Pern, D&D newer edition, and Vampyers of the Masqurade. I'm a terrible speller too. I've also played a few random games here and there.
The first time I played magic was about 4 years ago. But I started getting into, like actually buying cards and making my own decks, about 2 years ago. I love playing Black decks. They're my favorits :P
Well I guess thats all for now. Check out my bio page if you want to know more about me :D

You can check out my decklist via this link --> http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/daily/bd134 Don't listen to the writer though. I beat him fair and square, his friends just thought they knew what they were talking about. Is anyone else ever gunna post in here? =D
